Appraisal and Feasibility Studies

Expert assessment of development potential is essential for landowners, developers and anyone with an interest in the development process. We can identify site constraints and opportunities and apply the relevant planning policy context. We can link planning appraisals, where necessary, with surveying, valuation, architectural and other professional advice, for example, historic buildings, ecology and transport.

Planning Applications

A professionally prepared application supported by a Planning Statement, a Design and Access Statement and skilful negotiation based on knowledge of the planning issues is in an applicant’s best interest. We co-ordinate and submit applications on behalf of residential and commercial developers.

Planning Appeals

We advise clients on whether or not to appeal and deal with all aspects of the appeal process by Written Representation, Hearing or Public Inquiry. We appear as expert witnesses and undertake advocacy. We are very experienced in directly instructing Counsel and have close links with many leading members of the Planning Bar. The practice has a sizeable appeal caseload on behalf of a wide range of clients and we achieve a good success rate.

Future Planning

In a Development Plan led era it is imperative that those who have an interest in the use of land promote or safeguard their interests through the Development Plan process. We advise, make representations and lodge objections to Local Development Frameworks and Development Plan Documents. We appear and give evidence at Public Examinations and co-ordinate the input of other professionals. Our extensive Development Plan Library allows us to monitor plan progress.


The optimum use of land, particularly in relation to large development schemes, can often only be established through the preparation of a masterplan. We can identify the physical and policy context and co-ordinate the provision of a design and land use framework.


Professional advice can safeguard both businesses and individuals from the serious implications of enforcement action. A negotiated solution can often be found. We are experienced in all aspects of enforcement work, including enforcement appeals. It is imperative to respond immediately if enforcement action is taken.


We offer clients an in-house architectural and design service covering the full range from housing layout to commercial design. It enables us to identify design solutions to planning problems.
